Entertaining at times, but I couldn't quite seem to get into the whole believable romance part because there were so many typos. I would assume that with so many other novels,by this author, there would at least be an editor to look over the finished product. Also the character Jonathan seemed a bit to clean and unblemished. There was nothing to really tie him to the main character. The small amount of drama he WAS apart of seemed to dissipate before she(Woodson) had a chance to really evaluate him. Perhaps at the end the author ran out of ways to bring the story to a proper close, for example the way the ex just agreed to release Woodson after all he had already done. The author has a very developed understanding of the armed forces but lacks the balance of romantic understanding to really make this a great novel. I loved how the heroine and the hero interacted. He kept encourageing her to succeed, where as her ex was trying to put her down because he didn't want her to move up the ranks like he did. I'm feeling he should have proud of her but then again that's just how life is. Some persons don't feel good unless they have someone they can walk all over.
I really enjoyed the story! I have never been in the military, but the author used enough detail to allow me to stay engaged and understand the military lingo! It stirred all kinds of emotions, from anger, saddness, to joy. In my opinion, this is what distinguishes a good book from a great one.
I enjoyed the story, the characters and the ending.
I was proud to read about an African-American woman being determine to accomplish a higher ranking in the armed forces.
The relationship between the characters was very sweet, just, unbelievable. There's no way, they would not have gotten busted, even though I'm glad they didn't and they had a HEA!!!
This book was a good read. I love reading and watching on tv about the military especially the law side of it. So this book was right up my alley in so many ways. It is amazing how people view being attracted to someone that is not their race and how they deal with it or handle it. Will they pursue that person or just keep following the taboo of "You are not suppose to go outside your race." I enjoyed this book.
Another story well done. I liked it and the drama with the husband was shocking and well played out. Kimberly was not to be messed with! She knew her stuff! Jonathan was a dream guy. Loved it when they were at the hotel for the last time....hot! Next book I would like to read more drawn out love scenes if you don't mind. Wished it was longer.
I will be waiting for the next one.
I am I sucker for military stories. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the different branches and training it made the story very believable. I loved Kimberly' s strength and determination. I loved the relationship between her and Jonathan. I didn't want the story to end. Keep them coming. Read this story for yourself you won't be disappointed.
I am sooo tired of the IR books that have the heroine a ghetto queen and the hero trying to save her. Kimberly was amazing as a positive black female who enrolled in officer candidate school who meets and falls for Jonathan who is also enrolled. I like how Kimberly took care of herself and did not necessarily have to depend on the Alpha male too much. A refreshing read that I would highly recommend.
